KANSAS CITY, MO – The Alfred University men's basketball was honored as recipients of the 2024-25 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, as announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
A total of eight Saxons earned NABC Honors Court recognition for their efforts in the classroom during the 2024-25 academic year. The representatives for Alfred University are
Kenneth Allison Jr (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh),
Casey Curran (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone),
Tyler Curran (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone),
AJ Giaquinto (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake),
Robby Hicks (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa),
Franlys Valenzuela (Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic/San Ysidro),
Jackson White (Hornell, NY/Hornell) and
Oscar Wolter (Munich, Germany/Lycee Renoir).
"I'm proud of our team for their hard work in the classroom," Head Coach
Erich Kaempffe said. "The team award takes our entire roster pulling their weight - which they did. We had our best two semesters as a team in a long time in 2024-25, with a 3.55 and a 3.51. The eight student-athletes that received the individual award - Casey, Oscar, KJ, AJ, Jackson, Fran, Tyler, and Robby - are great ambassadors for our program and a great example to our younger players."
The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the 2023-24 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the 2024-25 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.
