ALFRED, NY – Alfred University women's lacrosse head coach Julie Decker has accepted a summer invitation to coach in Japan as part of the Beyond Sports Tours. Decker will spend time in Tokyo and Kyoto during the month of June, coaching one practice and four exhibition games, helping run a clinic for local youth lacrosse players, as well as taking in the sites and local experiences of the area. 

"I've wanted to do this for a long time," Decker said. "I know coaches who have done things like this, and Morgan (Wise) had a great experience with BST on their European tour last summer. I'm very excited to have an opportunity to coach lacrosse in Japan, to share this experience with and get to know collegiate lacrosse players from around the country, expand my worldview and familiarize myself with World Lacrosse rules, as well as help grow the game in Japan. I am looking forward to this once in a lifetime experience."

Beyond Sports Tours is an organization that prides themselves on leveraging the power of sports as a vehicle for meaningful immersion into different cultures and communities.

Decker and the Saxons enjoyed a historical spring season in which they tied the program record with five straight wins. Alfred University additionally finished with top five single-season program marks in goals scored (156), assists (64), points (220), ground balls (333), draw controls (185) and caused turnovers (208).
