Saxons Conclude 2026 Season With 14-1 Win Over SUNY Poly

UTICA, NY – Scoring across all four quarters from the Alfred University women's lacrosse team led to a 14-1 season finale victory against SUNY Poly on Saturday.

Kylee Bedette (Waterloo, NY Waterloo) led Alfred University with five points from a pair of goals and three assists. Megan Rinker (Le Roy, NY/Le Roy) registered five goals across a team-high eight shots on goal. Three other Saxons scored multiple goals as part of the win.

"This was a great team win to finish the season," Interim Head Coach Erin Schurr said. "A big shoutout to our seniors for their commitment over the years. We are already looking forward to next season!"

SUNY Poly was the first to get on the scoreboard in the opening quarter, forcing AU to play from behind. Less than a minute later, Rinker scored during a man-up situation to equalize the score. An assist from Bedette to Jessica Matson (Binghamton, NY/Chenango Valley) gave Alfred University their first lead of the afternoon. A free position goal by Sydney Angelo (Windsor, NY/Windsor Central) extended the advantage for the Saxons. Rinker scored from a free position shot attempt later in the quarter, as AU carried a 4-1 lead into the second quarter.

Bedette dished an assist to Rinker in the early stages of the second quarter to add to AU's scoring. Under a minute later, Jordan Genant (Johns Creek, GA/Centennial) connected with Angelo for an additional Saxon goal. Goals by Genant, Bedette and Paige Stansfield (Painted Post, NY/Corning-Painted Post) across the final four minutes of the first half had the Saxons leading in 9-1 fashion at the break.

Alfred University picked up where they left off on the offensive end, with Rinker being credited with her fourth goal of the afternoon during a man-up situation. Both Stansfield and Genant scored in the third quarter, as AU went into the final quarter with a 12-1 advantage. The Saxons closed out their afternoon with goals from Rinker and Bedette to hold on for the win.
