BROCKPORT, NY – The Alfred University men's track and field team finished seventh overall in the Empire 8 Outdoor Championships at SUNY Brockport on Saturday.
Jason Crocker (Oreland, PA/Springfield Township) posted top five performances in two of his throw events. He earned fourth in the shot put thanks to a 14.97m (49'-1.5") throw. Crocker also notched fifth during the discus throw at 39.24m (128'-9").
Both relay teams placed fifth while recording season best times.
Khamani Hunter Sr (Poughkeepsie, NY/FDR),
Riley Ciamarra (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter),
Steve Cordell Hoskins III (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph's Collegiate Institution) and
Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) ran in the 4x100-meter relay, registering a time of 42.88 seconds. Ciamarra and Peters later joined
Jonathan Hodges (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) and
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central) in the 4x400-meter relay. The Saxons recorded 3:23.75 during the race.
Donovan Blackman (Bowie, MD/Sandy Spring Friends) competed in his first career postseason high jump. He earned a spot on the podium in sixth place with a personal best 1.85m (6'-0.75") jump.
Peters ran in the final of the 100-meter dash after setting a personal best time in the prelims the day prior. He finished sixth overall at 11.34 seconds.
Dean placed in the top 10 in the 400-meter hurdles. He shaved .02 seconds to set a personal best time of 1:01.02.

Matt Phillips '10 said. "Several athletes stepped up and had outstanding results. It was fun to watch our relay squads come together at the end of the meet with huge season bests."
Alfred University heads to Allegheny College for the Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 8 at 12:00 PM.
