HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University men's track & field traveled to Houghton University on Saturday March 29th.
Jason Crocker (Oreland, PA/Springfield Township) claimed three first place finishes in the throwing events. In the discus throw, he recorded a distance of 35.19m (115'-5"). In the hammer throw, he won with a throw of 38.92m (127'-8") as a personal best. In shot put, his best mark was 14.07m (46'-2") to claim the victory.
Daimel Fowler (Baldwinsville, NY/Baker) placed second in the shot put with a throw of 12.66m (41'-6.5").
Riley Ciamarra (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) was first to cross the finish line in the 400-meter dash. He ran a personal record of 52.10.
Kevin Voegelin (Allegany, NY/Allegany-Limestone) accompanied Ciamarra in the 400m dash, where he placed fourth with a time of 55.51.
The first event on the track was the 1,500-meter run, sporting
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central), Yuner Sesmas (Apollo, PA/Kiski Area), and
Nick Erickson (Falconer, NY/Falconer Central), who all ran their personal best times. Dean took fourth place with 4:17.55, and Sesmas followed in eighth place at 4:26.63. Erickson's time of 4:59.14 was his personal best.
Four Saxons finished in the Top-8 of the 100-meter dash.
Khamani Hunter Sr. (Poughkeepsie, NY/FDR) ran an 11.24 for second place, closely followed by
Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) with an 11.31 for third.
Jayden Noel (Brooklyn, NY/Automotive) and
Steve Cordell Hoskins III (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) were neck and neck for sixth and seventh place, respectively. Noel crossed the line at 11.72, with Hoskins following close with a time of 11.73.
The 200-meter dash saw five Saxons place in the Top-8. Hunter claimed second place with 22.75, in third place was Peters with 23.39, followed by Ciamarra with a time of to 23.50 put him fourth.
Jonathan Hodges (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) ran a personal record of 23.79 for sixth place, followed by a seventh place finish from Hoskins with a 23.83.
Sesmas placed fourth in javelin with a mark of 23.94m (78'-6").
The Saxons placed second in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:45.71.
Jordan Annlee (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) started the race strong, Voegelin was the second leg who handed off to Noel, with Dean as anchor.

Matt Phillips '10 said, "It's been great to get two good meets in the month of March, which can be so unpredictable. We are very excited with what we've seen from the athletes this early in our season."
"Despite less than ideal weather conditions, the team was able to focus in and have some solid performances," Graduate Assistant Coach
Emma Anderson said. "We're still early in the season and it's exciting to see that progress is already being made. And shoutout to our throws squad for a great day!"
The Alfred University Track & Field team will next travel to SUNY Geneseo on Friday, April 4 for a two-day meet.
