ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University men's track & field team began the outdoor season on a high note at the Redhawk Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan University on Wednesday.

Matt Phillips'10 said. We had such a fun day today. The weather was so nice for mid-March and we were glad to be able to take advantage of it and lay down some great performances. The energy was high and we will build on that as the season progresses."
Highlighting the meet was
Khamani Hunter Sr (Poughkeepsie, NY/FDR) who earned back-to-back first place finishes in his events. He won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.14 and the 200-meter dash with a personal best time of 22.51.
Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) was 0.10 seconds behind Hunter in the 100-meter dash, finishing second at 11.24. He also notched fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.30.
Peters and Hunter competed with
Jayden Noel (Brooklyn, NY/Automotive) and
Stevie Hoskins in the 4x400-meter relay. The Saxons crossed the finish line in third at 3:39.79.
Riley Ciamarra (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) and
Sekou Camara (Conakry, Guinea/ICSA) placed fourth in one of their respective events. Ciamarra posted a personal best time of 23.29 in the 200-meter dash. Camara set a personal best time of 53.37 in the 400-meter dash.
Jason Crocker (Oreland, PA/Springfield Township) and
Daimel Fowler (Baldwinsville, NY/Baker) produced big performances in throws. Crocker won the shot put with a 13.77m throw (45'-2.3") and earned second in discus with 40.22m (131'-11"). Fowler placed third in both his events. He threw for 12.69m (41'-7.8") in the shot put before registering a personal best throw of 39.12m (128'-4") in the discus.
Alfred University heads to Houghton University for the Highlander Invitational at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 29.
