BROCKPORT, NY – The Alfred University men's track & field team was back in action at the SUNY Brockport Multi & Invitational on Saturday.

"It was a solid weekend across the board for our whole squad," assistant coach David Brannigan said. "The work that was put in the last few months is showing which is great. We still have a couple competitions left as we march on and prepare for our E8 conference meet. Very proud of the team and what we are building. The best is yet to come."

Jason Crocker (Oreland, PA/Springfield Township) had another top three finish in the shot put as he threw for a personal best 15.05m (49'-4.5") to claim third overall.  

On the track, Jonathan Hodges (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) competed in the 400-meter dash for the first time in his career. He won his heat and placed fifth overall at a time of 51.84.

Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/ Potsdam Central) also ran a new event as he represented the Saxons in the 1000-meter run. He registered sixth in his heat and seventh overall at 2:44.91.

"It was a good weekend for the Saxons," head coach Matt Phillips '10 said. "We had some really solid performances and the team is progressing well. We still have to put some work in over the next few weeks before the Empire 8 Championships at the end of the month."

Alfred University will travel to Nazareth University for the DIII Elite Meet on February 14-15.
