ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University hunt seat equestrian team finished as the Reserve High Point Team on Saturday afternoon out of the 10 teams competing at the Bromeley-Daggett Equestrian Center at Maris Cuneo Equine Park.
With one class remaining on Saturday, the Saxons recognized hunt seat seniors,
Ally Dann (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) and
Caitlin Jonas (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) who competed in their final home show.
The Saxons had four riders qualify for Regionals as Dann earned a spot for Limit Flat, Jonas in Novice,
Ella Thompson (Vancouver, WA/Virtual Learning Academy) qualified in Open Fences and
Maggie Childs (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) punched her ticket in Intermediate Fences.
Thompson and Childs qualified by winning their classes on Saturday and were joined by
Emily Hay and
Megan Wilson (Youngstown, OH/Ursuline) as blue ribbon recipients. Hay won Limit Flat and Wilson took first in Pre-Novice Flat. Hay added a second place finish in the Limit Fences in order to be named the Reserve High Point Rider, after a tie for the High Point Rider was decided after a tiebreaker.
