WEBSTER, NY -- The Alfred University women's swimming & diving program made some history on day 2 of the Empire 8 Championship meet.
"We had another great day!" Head Coach 
Brian Striker '00 said. "We continue to post an overwhelming amount of best times, and look great in the diving well. We definitely have some work to do over the next two days, but I am confident we will continue to post great results and gain some ground as a team."
Elizabeth Share (Macedon, NY/Palmyra-Macedon) led the way on the second day for the Saxons, as her run of 58.87 in the 100-yard butterfly A-Final is now the second-best in school history. It gave her a fourth-place finish overall, just a half-second behind third place and a medal. She also anchored the A-Final 200-yard freestyle relay with 
Sarah Anderson (Wayne, PA/Radnor), 
Isobel Anderegg (Wellsboro, PA/Wellsboro Area), and 
Maureen Derry (Asheville, NC/Asheville). They also finished fourth with a time of 1:40.60.
Derry was also in the A-Final in the 400-yard IM, clocking in at 5:00.04. Just .02 seconds behind her, winning the B-Final was 
Alexandra Simmons (Danbury, CT/Danbury). Anderson also competed in the 100-yard fly, where she wrapped up a 1:03.24.
The last Saxon to run in the evening was first-year 
Lauren Mott (Cortland, NY/Cortland) in the B-Final of the 200-yard freestyle. She came home with a time of 2:07.78.
Now halfway through the four-day event, Friday's festivities will start with preliminaries at 10:00 a.m., and finals starting at 5:30 p.m.
