ALFRED, NY – Three members of the Alfred University women's soccer team earned All-Empire 8 Third Team honors, as the conference announced on Tuesday.
Isabelle Dennis (Livonia, NY/Livonia),
Sidney Khuns (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) and
Ava Thayer (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) were the three representatives for the Saxons.
"We are proud to have Ava, Izzy and Sidney named to the All-Conference Third Team," Head Coach
Craig Yanni said. "It is very deserving for all three and is a testament to the hard work they put in over the entire season. It's always nice to have coaches in the conference recognize members of our team as deserving players for an All-Conference selection."
Dennis finished the fall season with seven points from five assists and one goal. On November 3, Dennis was honored as the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week. During the regular season finale against SUNY Poly, Dennis recorded a program-high four assists. The efforts by Dennis against the Wildcats marked just the second instance in Empire 8 history in which a player has recorded four assists in a single game.
Thayer enjoyed a successful first-year season with the Saxons, registering a pair of goals to go with an assist. Thayer finished second on the team in both shots (31) and shots on goal (13) this past fall.
Khuns wrapped up her junior season with a career-high three goals from the midfield. The captain scored in three of the final six games of the 2025 season for the Saxons, including two goals against top-seeded Brockport. In addition, Khuns was selected as Alfred University's representative for the Tomorrow's Leaders Team. This team honors a student-athlete who has emerged as a leader not only on the field of play, but in the classroom and in the community. In addition, they "compete with honor and integrity" and have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
