BROCKPORT, NY - The Alfred University women's soccer team finished their fall season with a 3-1 loss to SUNY Brockport on Saturday afternoon as part of the Empire 8 Championship Tournament. 

"I am proud of the way the team battled today," Head Coach Craig Yanni said. "Unfortunately, Brockport capitalized on a couple of mistakes that we made. Thank you to our seniors for all they have given to the program."

The Saxons set the tone to begin the first half, as a cross to Sidney Khuns (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) gave Alfred University the initial lead in the 2nd minute of action. Brockport responded with four consecutive shots that were rejected by the AU defense. The Golden Eagles found the back of the net in the 10th minute to equalize the game. Moments later, Alfred University was credited with their first corner kick opportunity of the afternoon. Brockport responded with a goal in the 24th minute to force the Saxons to play from behind going into halftime. 

The Saxons nearly tied the game following a free kick from Lina Young (North Collins, NY/North Collins). Kiani Barnard-Pratt (Westford, MA/Westford Academy) recorded three saves for Alfred University before Brockport extended their advantage in the 76th minute of regulation. Alfred University was unable to put across an additional shot attempt prior to the clock running out.
