Saxons Compete at Harry F. Anderson Invitational

ROCHESTER, NY -- The Alfred University Women's Cross Country team returned to action for the first time in three weeks at Roberts Wesleyan University.

"Seeing so many of our athletes hit negative splits really showcased their discipline and mental toughness," Head Coach Matt Phillips said. "Everyone pushed each other to keep improving, and that's what todat was all about."

The Harry F. Anderson Invitational saw 22 teams run the 5K race on the women's side, with the Saxons being led by senior McKenzie Hall (Hornell, NY/Hornell). The captain of the women's side finished 104th overall with a time of 20:47.6. Alivia Kocan (Hornell, NY/Arkport Central) was the leading first-year runner, second among Alfred University at 21:35.3.

The remaining three point-scorers for the Saxons finished within 30 seconds of each other, starting with Annabelle Townsend (Woodsville, NH/Woodsville) with a 22:45.1. It would then be two first-year competitors wrapping it up, with Desirea Stuart (Jasper, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg) and Mia Frazer (Cliffside Park, NJ/Inwood Academy for Leadership Charter) finishing respectively with times of 22:55.6 and 23:12.1.

After being off for three weeks, the Saxons are right back in action next week at Fredonia for the Fredonia Kara Hall Invitational on Saturday, October 5 at 11 am.
