BROCKPORT, NY – The distance medley relay team scored eight of the Alfred University men's track & field team's 11 team points as they tied with Division II Daemen College at the SUNY Brockport Indoor Invitational on Saturday, both teams taking ninth out of the 14 teams in competition.
The team of
Jacob Taylor (Cohocton, NY/Avoca), Riley Ciamarra (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas), Kevin Flint (Caledonia, NY/Caledonia-Mumford) and
Finnegan Dean (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam Central) combined for a time of 11:19.60 and second place on Saturday. The Saxon squad finished ahead of Alfred State College and their time of 11:32.38 on Saturday. Taylor tacked on a point by himself as he ran a 2:45.97 in the 1,000-meter run, edging a runner from SUNY Geneseo and their time of 2:46.31.
AU's final two points came from
Jason Crocker (Oreland, PA/Springfield Township) in the shot put. He first qualified for finals with a throw of 13.33m (43'-8.75") and then solidified his seventh place finish with a final throw of 13.61m (44'-8").
The Saxons will next set their sights in two directions next week, as members of the team will go to either Staten Island, NY for the Fast Track Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex or will return to RIT for a closer-to-home meet. Both events are on Friday, February 9.
