FREDONIA, NY -- Alfred University Women's Cross Country team ran an impressive race hosted by Fredonia University.
"It was a mixture of personal bests and solid performances for both the men and women," Head Coach
Matt Phillips said. "I wasn't expecting personal bests today. I'm always happy when it happens though, as it shows they are adapting to the training and getting stronger and faster."
In the 6K event, the Saxons were led by
McKenzie Hall (Hornell, NY/Hornell) who finished 57th overall with a time of 25:44.3. Right behind her in 59th was
Alivia Kocan (Hornell, NY/Arkport Central) at 25.47.4. The two standout runners pulled Alfred University to an 11th place finish.
Behind the senior and first-year runner, the three other point-scorers all finished within a 25-second span of one another.
Annebelle Townsend (Woodsville, NH/Woodsville) led the mini-pack with a time of 28:18.2, quickly followed suit by
Desirea Stuart (Jasper, NY/Jasper-Troupsburg) at 28:23.2. The fifth Saxon runner to cross the line would be
Zoe Rainville (Saranac, NY/Sarnac), scoring her first points in a cross-country meet, finishing with a 28:43.0.
Alfred University gets a mini-break to recover and prepare for their next race at SUNY Geneseo on October 19th, setting off at 10:45 am.
