ALFRED, NY – On Monday afternoon, the Empire 8 named Juan Jose Menendez Gutierrez (Villanueva Cañada, Madrid, Spain/Woodstock Academy) one of the Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week.
 
Menendez Gutierrez helped the Saxons go 2-1 on the week as they were undefeated by NCAA opponents. He totaled two goals and three assists. All three assists and one of his goals occurred on the road at Pitt.-Bradford on Wednesday, helping AU win, 6-1. The three goals and total of five points in the road contest both established collegiate career-highs. He added a safety goal in a 2-0 win over Marietta College to open the Bryan Karl Tournament on Saturday.
 
Menendez Gutierrez was joined on Monday by Alina Zabihailo (Kyiv, Ukraine/Educational Complex #143) as the Women's Tennis Player of the Week, TJ Marsh (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) as the Football Co-Defensive Player of the Week and Taylor Malone (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) as the Women's Volleyball Co-Player of the Week.
