ALFRED, NY – For the second time of the year,
Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) of the Alfred University men's track & field team has been named the Empire 8 Track Athlete of the Week, as made official in an official announcement by Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro on Monday.
Peters finished second in the 100-meter dash to lead a group of four in the finals at the St. John Fisher College Cardinal Classic. He ran an 11.06 on Saturday to claim silver in the event. The other three Saxon men who ran in the finals with Peters were also part of his 4x100-meter relay team that ran a time of 43.85 to finish third in the event.
Peters was joined in the Empire 8 Weekly Awards by softball's
Mya Wells (San Ramon, CA/California) as the Co-Player of the Week. He and the Saxons will next compete at the University of Rochester on Saturday, April 30 at 10:00am, wrapping up the season prior to competing in the Empire 8 Championships.
