ROCHESTER, NY – Madison Palmer (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) represented the Alfred University women's track & field team on Friday evening during the All-Atlantic Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships hosted by Nazareth College.

Palmer qualified earlier in the season in both throwing events and competed in the shot put on Friday. Her first throw of the meet faltered with a distance of 10.01m (32'-10.25"). Palmer skyrocketed up the results list with her second toss as she threw 11.70m (38'-4.75"), increasing her standing from 23^rd to seventh place. The third round of the shot put event had throwers nudge Palmer back down the list to have her finish in 12^th place overall as her third throw was 11.05m (36'-3").

"AARTFC is alway a huge meet where the competition is fierce," Head Coach Dr. Angie Taylor said. "Especially in the field events, it's common to see a lot of shifting within the leaderboards and that's exactly what happened today. It was just unfortunate that the top of the list was so close that mere inches kept Madison off the podium. Fortunately, we know that she is the type of student-athlete to rebound to compete in the weight throw tomorrow."

Palmer will finish the AARTFC Indoor Championships on Saturday as she will compete in the weight throw.
