GENESEO, NY – The Alfred University women's cross country team finished 17
th during SUNY Geneseo's 41
st Annual Mike Woods Invitational on Saturday morning, competing against 25 teams and 276 runners.
The Saxons were led by
McKenzie Hall (Hornell, NY/Hornell) and
Mari Jablonski (Monticello, GA/Jasper County) as both finished in the Top-100 on Saturday. Hall was 83
rd with a time of 25:24.9 and Jablonski was 87
th with a time of 25:35.5, leading a team time of 132:05.0. As the race progressed, Hall advanced her positioning among her competitors by 29 places while Jablonski gain 10 position places.
Sarah Lutkins (Union Springs, NY/Union Springs) was just shy of the Top-100 as she ran a 26:18.7 to earn 104
th place, running over 30 seconds faster in her final 2K compared to the first two.
Ashley O'Toole (Simi Valley, CA/Simi Valley) and
Ivy Vallely (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) both finished in the top 50% of runners, rounding out the scoring efforts of the Saxons on the day. O'Toole ran a 27:21.1 for 118
th place, closing the gap by 11 places and Vallely ran a 27:24.8, immediately behind her teammate in 119
th place, besting her first two 2K's by over 23 seconds in the final 2K. O'Toole's time was also a 48-second PR compared to the race at Penn State Behrend, earlier this season.
The Saxons will next race at Houghton University on Saturday, October 8 as the final tune-up before the Empire 8 Championships on October 29 at the Highlanders' course.
