Christopher Cox (Rochester, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland) led the Alfred University football team to a road win at Kalamazoo as his efforts were recognized on Monday afternoon in an official announcement from Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro, naming him the Empire 8 Football Defensive Player of the Week.

Cox had a standout defensive performance as he led the Saxons to keeping the Hornets of Kalamazoo to only 10 yards rushing and 129 yards passing. He had a game-high 14 tackles and 10 solo tackles. Cox also had a game-high 4.0 tackles for a loss for 12 yards including a sack for minus five yards.

He was joined by Alfred University women's soccer's
Jacey Palmgreen (Rochester, NY/Greece-Olympia) in the Empire 8 Weekly Awards as she was named the Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Both student-athletes were also named the Saxons of the Week on Monday.
