ALFRED, NY – Alfred University men's track & field's
Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) was named the Empire 8 Men's Track Athlete of the Week on Monday in an announcement by Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro.

Sophomore Peters had the top finish for Alfred University at the University at Buffalo Invitational on Saturday as he ran a 23.91 in the 200-meter dash to take fourth place, helping the Saxons top teams from Division I and Division III, finishing seventh out of 14 teams. Peters teamed with
Jackson Trimboli (Arkport, NY/Arkport Central),
John Wendt (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter) and
Cody Collins (Alden, NY/Iroquois) for a sixth place finish in the 4x100-meter relay as they combined for a time of 45.56, just narrowly being edged out of fifth place. Individually, Peters also had two 13
th place finishes in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.15 and the long jump with a distance of 5.68m.

In Empire 8 Weekly Awards, Peters was joined by men's tennis's
Wes Dennison (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) as the Player of the Week and softball's
Jessica Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) as the Pitcher of the Week.

Peters and the Saxons will next head to compete at St. John Fisher College on Saturday, April 24.
