ALFRED, NY – The Empire 8 named sophomore
Wes Dennison (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) the Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week on Monday in an announcement by Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro.

Dennison was undefeated in doubles, going 3-0 on the week and going 2-1 in singles in Empire 8 action. He partnered with
Sam Cohen (Brighton, NY/Brighton) all week in doubles, defeating Houghton's
Matthew Cicero and
Adam Brown, 8-7(7-0) at No. 3, St. John Fisher's
Jon Sutherland and
Anthony Molosag at No. 3 as well with a score of 8-5 and finishing with Utica's
Maki Medici and
Ethan Trembley at No. 2 doubles on Sunday, 8-3. Dennison's singles play had wins against Houghton's
Ben McKay, 1-6, 6-1, 10-4 and Utica's
Joshua Palmer, 6-1, 6-0. The match against Houghton, Dennison played at No. 6 singles and was No. 5 against Utica. His only loss of the week was a three-set loss to Fisher's Molosag, falling 4-6, 6-2, 8-10.

Dennison was also one of the Saxons of the Week on Monday, being joined by Alfred University softball's
Ashley Lugo (Hesperia, CA/Oak Hills). In Empire 8 Weekly Awards, he was joined by men's track & field's
Neil Peters (The Bronx, NY/DeWitt Clinton) as the Track Athlete of the Week and softball's
Jessica Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) as the E8 Pitcher of the Week.

Dennison and the Saxons will next host Oswego State on Friday, April 23 at 3:00pm on the William T. Brown Tennis Courts in non-conference action.
