ALFRED, NY – Graduate guard of the Alfred University men's basketball team, Cole Eells (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) helped the Saxons start the year 1-0, and for that, was named the Empire 8 Men's Basketball Player of the Week, as made official in an announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro on Monday afternoon.
 
Eells had the game-high in points and 3-pointers as he helped the Saxons pick up the season-opening win over SUNY Brockport on Saturday. He scored 20 points with five 3-pointers and five free throws. He shot .500 from beyond the arc and was 5-of-7 from the charity stripe. He also pulled down four rebounds (three defensive) during the win.
 
Eells and the Saxons will next travel to the Hawks of Hilbert College on Tuesday, November 9 at 7:30pm.
