ALFRED, NY -- For the fourth time in his career on the Alfred University men's basketball team, sophomore Brewster Marshall (Horseheads, NY/Horseheads) has been on the Empire 8 Weekly Honors list as he earned his first Men's Basketball Player of the Week selection on Monday afternoon as made official in an announcement by Associate Commissioner, Joe Venniro.

Marshall came off the bench to be one of four Saxons in double-digit scoring in a win over Westfield State on Saturday. He was 7-for-10 from the floor including one 3-pointer and tacked on a 3-for-5 performance from the free throw line to score a team-high, 18 points. Marshall also pulled down a team-high, seven rebounds and had one assist, one block and one assist.

Marshall was joined by teammate Mike Schmidt (Olean, NY/Olean) as the duo swept the Empire 8 Weekly Awards with Schmidt's Rookie of the Week honors. Marshall was also tabbed as one of the Saxons of the Week, joined by women's basketball's Gillian Flint (Caledonia, NY/Caledonia-Mumford).

Marshall and the Saxons will next co-host the Alfred Special Tees Tip-Off Classic alongside Alfred State College. On Friday, November 15, the Saxons will compete at the Alfred State Orvis Center against SUNY Cobleskill at 5 p.m. before hosting Clarkson University in the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena on Saturday, November 16 at 4 p.m. to close out the classic.
