ALFRED, NY -- In the opening week of competition for the schools in the Empire 8, junior
Lauren Serotta (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) of Alfred University earned the first E8 Women's Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week award on Monday as made official in an announcement by Associate Commissioner,
Joe Venniro.
Serotta picked up the Saxons' only individual win of the meet on Saturday against Rochester Institute of Technology. She won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.84. She then took second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:18.50. She joined
Rachel Flaherty (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug),
Alexis Deluca (Buffalo, NY/Kenmore East) and
Caitlin Behr (Beach Haven, NJ/Southern Regional) in the 200-yard medley relay for third with a time of 2:00.22. She rounded out her day with a third place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:24.88.
Serotta was joined by football's
Nick Milgate (Hilton, NY/Hilton) and men's soccer's
Ben Middlemiss (Montclair, NJ/Montclair) as the other Saxons to earn weekly awards as both were Defensive Players of the Week.
Serotta and the Saxons will next head to Nazareth College on Friday, November 1 for a 6 p.m. dual meet.
