ALFRED, NY -- Junior outside hitter, Amber Smith (Penfield, NY/Webster Schroeder) represented the Alfred University women's volleyball team as the Empire 8 Player of the Week as made official with an announcement on Monday afternoon.

Smith broke a career-best in kills as she registered 28 against the Knights of Mt. St. Mary College during the SUNY New Paltz Tournament both Friday and Saturday. Her stat line for Saturday's morning match was 28 kills on 64 attempts with five errors (.359 hitting percentage). Saturday's match was her first of the season with 20+ kills as she also set a season-best of 18 digs. In total, Smith had 58 kills, 44 digs, three block assists and one ace on the weekend to lead the Saxons.

Smith and the Saxons will next host the Golden Eagles of The College at Brockport on Tuesday, September 11 at 7PM in the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.
