ALFRED, NY -- Senior Haley Powers (Newark, DE/St. Georges Tech) was named the Empire 8 Softball Player of the Week on Monday.

Powers had a great week at the plate, going 12-for-19 and notching a season-high four hits against The Sage Colleges on Friday evening. She completed the week with eight total RBIs including six against Empire 8 opponents. She was responsible for five of the six runs scored in the doubleheader against the Pioneers of Utica College, batting in two during the first game and following that performance with a two-run homer and another run scored in the second game.

She moved her way up the Empire 8 batting average standings to third, hitting .455 on the season. She currently ranks first in the Empire 8 in hits (40), fourth in slugging (.739), fourth in OBP (.500), second in runs scored (23), sixth in RBIs, second in doubles (11) and fourth in homeruns.
