BUFFALO, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming & diving team fell to Canisius College on Saturday evening, 174-112.
"Going up to Canisius was an unexpected meet against a better team," Graduate Assistant Coach
Ray Snyder IV said. "It was very much needed as a learning and racing experience for the men's team. Considering the second meet in a row, and the couple weeks of difficult training, the men handled it very well. This meet might have been a loss, but it was a step in the right direction in confidence and experience."
Andy Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley Central) was the first Saxon to pick up a win as he swam a 1:58.74 in the 200-yard backstroke. He defeated the entire pool by almost five seconds.
Noah Koltenuk (Danville, PA/Danville Area) went on to win the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:26.30 to top the exhibition time of 4:28.64 from Canisius's top swimmer.
"The team has been working hard recently. To go on the road two days in a row is tough," Head Coach
Brian Striker said. "They performed well today. We are in a good place right now and I am glad we had this opportunity."
The Saxons will next swim in the Fredonia Tri-Meet with the Blue Devils and Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday, November 10 at 1PM.
