Swimming Opened 2018-19 Campaign at RIT

Results

ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University women's and men's swimming & diving teams fell in the season-opener to Rochester Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon.

The Saxon women loss 190-95 while the men were defeated 182.5-112.5 at RIT. During the dual meet, only three Saxons took home individual wins outside of exhibition races.

"This was a tough first meet. We saw some solid performances from Chris [Deaver], Noah [Koltenuk], Tori [Cramp] and Lauren [Serotta]," Head Coach Brian Striker said. "There were also a handful of lifetime bests. The energy that this team brings continues to be very positive. Despite some solid performances for mid-October, it wasn't enough to do much against a strong RIT program. It is pretty clear to me that we have some work to do to get to where we want to be."

Senior Chris Deaver (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) won both of his diving events on the day. He first won the 3-meter board with a score of 279.75. Later on, he claimed the top score on the 1-meter board with a mark of 270.80.

Sophomore Noah Koltenuk (Danville, PA/Danville Area) picked up the lone win in the pool lanes as he swam a 10:11.74 in the 1,000-meter freestyle. Victoria Cramp (Hornell, NY/Hornell) earned the women's only victory outside of exhibition when she scored a 197.25 on the 3-meter board.

The Saxons will next host their home-opener on Friday, October 26 at 6PM when Empire 8 foe, Nazareth College makes the trip to Lebohner Pool.
