ALFRED, NY -- Sophomore Zac Mapes (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) earned his first ever Empire 8 Athletic Conference Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Mapes had a standout performance for the Saxons during the Danny Curran Invitational at Widener University where he took third place in the triple jump with a distance of 12.33 meters. He also finished third out of the 49 participants in the long jump with a jump of 6.43 meters.

Mapes and the Saxons will next head to Houghton College for the Allegany County Classic on Tuesday, April 4 at 3:00 pm.
