ALFRED, NY -- Sophomore diver Gabriel Smith (Campbell, NY/Campbell-Savona) earned his first ever Empire 8 Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for his performance on the diving boards on Saturday against Le Moyne.

Smith shattered his personal best scores on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards against Le Moyne. Smith was the only men's diver for the Saxons against Le Moyne's two. He swept both diving events on Saturday afternoon. First, he broke his 3-meter score of 168.50 with a new standard of 180.45 points. Then, on the short board, he broke his PR of 174.80 with a score of 202.40 points.

Smith and the Saxons will next head to Ithaca College for the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association (UNYSCSA) Championships. The meet will also act as the Empire 8 Championship meet from Wednesday, February 15 until Saturday, February 18.
