ROCHESTER, NY – The Alfred University men's swimming and diving team fell to Rochester Institute of Technology, 103.5-186.5 on Saturday afternoon at Judson Pool on the road.

The Saxons (1-4) were led by
Alec Toth (Lockport, Ny/Starpoint),
Richard Berger (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz) and
Andy Edmister (Belmont, NY/Genesee Valley Central). Toth claimed wins in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:06.34 and shared the 500 Freestyle victory with RIT's Austin Hayes with mirroring times of 5:04.37. He also earned second in the 200 Freestyle with a finish of 1:51.52.

Berger won the 100 Breaststroke with a 1:02.76 while falling to second in the 200 Breaststroke by 0.09 seconds. His final time was a 2:20.54.

Edmister finished third in the 100 Backstroke (56.58), 50 Freestyle (23.48) and the 200 Backstroke (2:08.12).

Joseph Lawrence (Clarence Center, NY/Clarence) was the only other Saxon to earn a victory outside of exhibition races with his 55.68 finish in the 100 Butterfly.

Other place finishers for the Saxons were
Gabriel Smith (Campbell, NY/Campbell-Savona) on the 3-Meter diving board with a score of 152.05,
Derek Ciraolo (Grand Island, NY/St. Joseph's) in the 200 Butterfly (2:15.00),
Michael Guarglia (Hornell, NY/Hornell) in the 1,000 Freestyle (11:07.00) and
Mike Goodrich (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) in the 100 Breaststroke (1:05.09).

The 200 Medley Relay team of Edmister, Berger, Lawrence and
Patrick Brown (Olean, NY/Olean) took second with a time of 1:39.47.

The Saxons will next compete at the Ithaca College Invitational. The event is a three-day invitational that begins on Friday, December 2 and ends on Sunday, December 4.
