ALFRED, NY — A.J. Licata (Lake View, NY/Frontier), a member of the Alfred University football team, has earned weekly honors from the Empire 8 Conference.

Licata, a sophomore outside linebacker, was named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week. He was honored for his play in Alfred's 35-13 conference win at Brockport on Saturday. Licata made 16 tackles (eight solo), including 2 ½ for loss and a sack, and had an interception.

On the season, Licata is second on the team in tackles (73) and leads the team in tackles for loss (10 ½). He also has two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

Alfred (6-2, 4-2 Empire 8) is in action next on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 1 p.m. at home against Utica College.
