Box Score ITHACA, NY – Host Ithaca College scored a pair of second-half goals to break a 1-1 tie and secure a 3-1 win over the Alfred University men's soccer team Saturday afternoon in the Empire 8 Conference opener for both teams.
Ithaca opened the scoring 28:34 into the game before AU sophomore defender
Oumar Soumahoro (New York, NY/Martin Luther King) netted the unassisted equalizer at the 34:43 mark.
The game remained tied until just under 20 minutes left in regulation, when Ithaca netted what proved to be the game-winning goal. The Bombers added an insurance tally with 3:29 left.

Matthew Unick (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) made two saves for AU. The game was evenly matched, as Ithaca held a slight 10-8 advantage in shots, with each team taking four corner kicks.
AU falls to 4-4 overall (0-1 E8) with the loss, while Ithaca improves to 1-3-1(1-0 Empire 8). Alfred is in action next on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m. at home against Nazareth.
