Box Score HOUGHTON, NY –The Alfred University women's lacrosse team was dealt a 13-11 loss by Houghton College, on the road Wednesday evening.
                
The Lady Saxons were ahead 5-4 at halftime, but the Highlanders rallied in the second half, outscoring AU, 9-6, to secure the win.
                
Junior attack Kaitlyn Button (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) (two caused turnovers) anchored the Alfred offense with a team-high five goals.
                
Senior attack Ashley White (Islip, NY/Islip) (four groundballs), senior defender Janelle Gallipeau (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) (six groundballs, four draw controls), and freshman midfielder Megan Wendt (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) all combined for six goals, netting two apiece.
                
Junior goalie Taylor Tarajos (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) made a game-high 10 saves throughout 60 minutes of play, for AU.
                
Alfred (1-8, 0-4 Empire 8) resumes conference play on Friday, April 18, at 4 p.m. against Elmira College.
