ALFRED, NY — Trevor Monk (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), a freshman placekicker on the Alfred University football team, has been named Empire 8 Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.
                
Monk was honored for his play in the Saxons' come-from-behind 23-21 conference win at Salisbury on Saturday. With AU trailing 21-20, Monk booted a 22-yard field goal as time expired to give the Saxons the win.
                
On the year, Monk has converted three of four field goal tries and 23 of 28 extra point attempts. With Saturday's win, AU improved to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in Empire 8 Conference play. The Saxons are in action next on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 6 p.m. at Utica.
