ALFRED, NY — David Luke (Ocala, FL/West Port), a senior on the Alfred University men's swimming and diving team, has earned weekly honors from the Empire 8 Conference.
                
Luke was named the Empire 8 Male Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced Monday. He was honored for his performance in the Saxons' 135-108 dual meet win over visiting Fredonia on Friday.
                
Luke won the 50-yard freestyle, setting a new AU pool record with his time of 21.14 seconds. He also swam the freestyle leg for the winning 200-yard medley relay (1:41.34) and clocked a lead leg of 21.41 seconds for the winning 200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.77).
                
Alfred, 3-1 in dual meets, is in action next at the Ithaca College Invitational, Dec. 5-7.
