Box Score ONEONTA, NY- The Alfred University men's basketball team fell to Empire 8 foe, Hartwick College, 131-124, Friday evening on the road. This gives AU their first conference loss of the season (3-1), and moves them to 10-3 overall.
Hartwick held a 53-49 lead at halftime, and remained in control for the majority of the second half, holding a five-point lead (112-107) with 1:52 seconds remaining in regulation. Freshman guard
Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Secondary) scored on back-to-back possessions with a made three-point shot and layup, tying the game at 112-112, and sending it into an extra frame.
In the overtime period, Alfred held a 2-point lead with 4:17 left until Hartwick topped of a 14-4 run that ended with 26 seconds remaining, and gave them the final victory.
For the game, AU shot 45-of-101 for 45 percent from the field, 12-of-35 for 34 percent beyond the arc, and 22-of-29 for 76 percent from the free-throw line.
Seelman finished with a team-high 19 points, sophomore guard
Jerry Kincel (Moosic, PA/Riverside) shot five-of-eight from the field and a perfect three-of-three beyond the arc for 17 points, and senior guard
Thomas Tsatsis (Neponsit, NY/Townsend Harris) scored 16 points and handed out four assists. Junior forward
Dalton Walsh (Stockton, NY/Cassadaga Valley) posted a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Junior guard
Ryan Mahon (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) and junior forward
Jeremy Johnson (Martinsburg, WV/Martinsburg (Shepherd University)) also added 12 points each.
