Box Score ITHACA, NY – The Alfred University men's basketball team improved to 2-0 in Empire 8 play, and 9-2 on the season, with a 94-67 win over Ithaca College, Friday evening on the road.
The Saxons built a seven-point lead, four minutes into the game after freshman guard
Dylan Molloy (Clifton Park, Shenendehowa) drained a 3-pointer. AU did not trail the entire first half and headed into halftime on top, 47-36.
Alfred established a comfortable lead throughout the second half, and forced the Bombers into 21 turnovers, which accounted for 30 of their points. For the game, AU shot 32-for-71 (45 percent) from the field and 22-for-27 (82 percent) from the free-throw line.
Senior guard
Thomas Tsatsis (Neponsit, NY/Townsend Harris) and senior forward
Steve Lothridge (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa (OCC)) led the Saxons' offense with 17 and 13 points, and pulled down 12 rebounds each. Molloy finished with nine points, and converted three-for-three beyond the arc for a 100 percent shooting percentage. Junior guard
Tim Pacheco (Mt. Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East) added 10 points and four steals as well.
Alfred returns to action against Elmira College on Saturday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m.
