Box Score FREDONIA, NY- The Alfred University men's basketball team improved to 4-1 (0-0 Empire 8) after earning a 100-90 victory over SUNY Fredonia, Tuesday evening.
Alfred took the lead (13-12) with 13:23 left in the first half when senior guard
Tim Pacheco (Mt. Pocono, PA/Pocono Mountain East) scored a layup. The Saxons built off that lead the rest of the way, holding a 47-36 halftime advantage, further sustaining it throughout the second half of play, edging the Blue Devils as time expired.
For the game, AU shot 42 percent from the field, 33 percent from the three-point line, and 56 percent from the charity stripe.
Junior guard
Mike Snyder (Pulaski, NY/Pulaski) scored a team-high 18 points to pace the Saxons, shooting five-for-nine from the field and four-for-eight beyond the arc. Senior forward
Jason Ruback (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Mendon), Pacheco, and freshman guard
Tyler Seelman (Lorton, VA/Hayfield Secondary) added 15, 11, and 12 points as well.

Steve Lothridge (East Syracuse, NY/East Syracuse-Minoa (OCC)) and junior guard
Thomas Tsatsis (Neponsit, NY/Townsend Harris) pulled down nine and seven rebounds apiece.
Alfred plays Penn Tech on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 3 p.m. to make up the postponed contest from last week.
