Madison Palmer qualified for both throwing events in her season-opening performances as she swept both the shot put and weight throw on Friday at the Houghton December Classic, defeating opponents such as SUNY Geneseo, RIT and St. John Fisher College, perennial track & field powerhouses. She nearly defeated every thrower by two feet with a throw of 11.80m in the shot put and then defeated everyone by over two feet in the weight throw with a toss of 14.18m. Palmer neared both of her school record marks on the evening as well.
