Box Score OSWEGO, NY -- The Alfred University women's tennis team traveled to Oswego State on Wednesday evening and dropped a 7-0 non-conference meeting.

The Saxons (2-5, 2-3 Empire 8) started off with a tough battle at No. 3 doubles. Alexis Gits (Irondequoit, NY/Irondequoit) and Anastasia Shaw (Orange County, NY/Washingtonville) narrowly loss, 7-5. Shaw had another close match in the head-to-head at No. 5 singles. She won the first set, lost the second and forced a long third set tiebreak. Ultimately, Shaw fell to a score of 6-3, 5-7, 10-8.

"I am proud of our team for the fight today," Head Coach Jordan Crouch said. "Oswego is a strong team. They didn't really have any weaknesses for us to exploit and they made us work from start to finish today. Doubles was tight and the singles matches were contested up and down the lineup. I think we learned a lot and have identified a few ways that we can improve going forwards. I'm excited to get back to train tomorrow and get ready for Sage this weekend. LETS GO SAXONS!"

The Saxons will next travel to Russell Sage College on Saturday, September 26 for a 1:00pm Empire 8 match.
