ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball team fell to visiting University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Wednesday evening in non-conference action inside of the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.
The Saxons (3-6, 0-0 Empire 8) only won the second set in the four-set defeat, earning set scores of 23-25, 25-16, 19-25, 17-25.
Carleigh Santavy (Commerce, MI/Walled Lake Northern) recorded 10 kills and one block assist for 10.5 points.
Abigail Omelan (Tomball, TX/Tomball) followed with 9.0 points on six kills and three service aces.
Gillian Dickerson (Frisco, TX/Wakeland) had 27 set assists and 12 digs, adding a kill, an ace and a block assist.
Madalynn McGowan (Corona, CA/Norco) joined Dickerson with double-digit digs, recording 14 and adding a team-high five aces. McGowan's aces tied for a match-high.
The Saxons will next travel to Oswego, NY to play in the Oswego State Laker Classic on Friday, September 18 with a 3:00pm match with the host. Then they face two Liberty League institutions, Bard College and Clarkson University on Saturday, September 19 with the first match against the Raptors at 12:00pm and the final against the Golden Knights at 2:00pm.
