ALFRED, NY – The Alfred University women's volleyball team ended its stay at the University of Rochester Invitational with a pair of non-conference losses on Saturday.
The Saxons (3-5, 0-0 Empire 8) dropped a three-set loss to Lewis & Clark College to open the day, scoring 19, seven and 13 points in each set, before dropping a second three-set match to Smith College with set scores of 14, 13 and nine.
Match One
Alfred University – 0 (19, 7, 13) | Lewis & Clark College – 3 (25, 25, 25)
Abigail Omelan (Tomball, TX/Tomball Memorial) recorded six kills and five digs, while
Madalynn McGowan (Corona, CA/Norco) and
Gillian Dickerson (Frisco, TX/Wakeland) each added five digs. Dickerson also had nine set assists and McGowan had two aces, both stats leading the team.
Match Two
Alfred University – 0 (14, 13, 9) | Smith College – 3 (25, 25, 25)
Omelan had the top score for the Saxons in the second match of the day, recording 7.0 points from four kills and three aces.
Julia Abbott (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton) supplemented with 6.0 points, all from kills.
Dickerson added 12 set assists.
Jenesys Del Mar Moctezuma-Gonzalez (Bayamón, Puerto Rico/North Cobb) had a team-high six digs.
The Saxons will next host their first home match of 2026 with a non-conference meeting with University of Pittsburgh at Bradford on Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00pm from the Terry S. Galanis Family Arena.
