ALFRED, NY — Alfred University's Molly Whitmyer (Enola, PA/Trinity) was named one of the Empire 8 Softball Co-Players of the Week on Monday.

Whitmyer, in games she played, was 3-0 for the week, including a 2-0 sweep of SUNY Brockport to help the Saxons clinch the No. 3 seed in the Empire 8 Tournament. In the doubleheader, she was 6-for-9 with three RBI (all in game two) and scored three runs. Out of her six hits, she had one home run and one double. Whitmyer batted a .667 in the conference twin bill and added one hit in a non-conference road game at Penn State-Behrend on Monday. In the first game against Brockport, Whitmyer tied her career-high defensively with 10 putouts and added two assists in the game. 

Whitmyer and the Saxons turn their sights towards the Empire 8 Softball Championship Tournament, starting with a matchup with No. 4 seeded Nazareth University on Thursday, May 7.
