Box Score HOUGHTON, NY – The Alfred University men's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 victory in a non-conference match over Penn College on Friday.

The Saxons (7-3, 2-0 Empire 8), who had to move another match indoors due to weather, started things off by claiming the doubles point against the Wildcats (2-6, 1-2 United East).
Matthew Bittel (Wellsville, NY/Wellsville) and
Josh Erickson (Falconer, NY/Falconer) claimed the forfeit victory at No. 3.
Ricardo Alvarez Janik (La Orotava, Spain/Colegio Casa Azul) and
Anlun Zwerver (Koog Aan De Zaan, The Netherlands/Blaise Pascal College) dominated at No. 1 with a 6-0 sweep.
Breece Erickson (Goshen, IN/Bethany Christian) and
André López Jiménez (Mexico City, Mexico/PrepaTec Esmeralda) finished at No. 2 with a 6-1 win to claim the first point for AU.
In singles, [Josh] Erickson gained another forfeit win at No. 6. Alvarez Janik swept his opponent in straight sets by scores of 6-0, 6-0. [Breece] Erickson cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3, while Bittel went 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5. The final two singles matches were a narrow margin during the second set. Both Zwerver and López Jiménez registered a narrow score of 6-4 to win their respective matches at No. 4 and 2.
Ricardo Janik earned both the 10th doubles and singles victory of his career. He and partner Zwerver earned their fifth doubles in win as a pair.
The Saxons will next travel to St. John Fisher University for an Empire 8 match on Friday, April 10, at 4:00 PM.
