GENESEO, NY -- The Alfred University men's lacrosse team played in its final road game of the 2026 regular season, falling to SUNY Geneseo 11-5 on Wednesday afternoon.
Alfred (7-8, 3-5 Empire 8) jumped out to the early lead behind a tally from an unassisted goal by
Keagan Hoesterey (Palmyra, NY/Palmyra-Macedon).
Brendan Riley (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and
Cole Loewke (Hilton, NY/Hilton) followed suit with two straight goals to move the advantage to two goals late in the first quarter.
Riley added on two assists to lead Saxon scorers with three points.
Nick Volpe (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) also notched an assist on the Riley goal.
Loewke scored the lone AU goal in the second quarter which evened the game at four midway through the second frame.
Tyler Muskopf (Elma, NY/Iroquois) added on in the fourth quarter with his first goal of the season, but unfortunately couldn't kick start the comeback.
Alfred University forced 12 turnovers, with five combined between
Josh Funk (Newton Square, PA/Maple Newton) and
Nicholas Kramer (Fredericksburg, VA/St. John Paul the Great).
Rhett Krieger (East Aurora, NY/East Aurora) won five face-offs with a team-high four ground balls.
Alex Petrangelo (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) finished with 15 saves.
The Saxons will wrap up regular season action at home against SUNY Poly on Saturday at 1 PM. Prior to the game, AU will celebrate 12 seniors in their senior day celebrations.
