ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's Bella Mistretta (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield Secondary) was named the Empire 8 Softball Player of the Week.
 
Mistretta helped the Saxons go 4-2 overall and 4-0 in Empire 8 action on the week. She batted a .611 with 11 hits (one double and one home run) with six RBI and scored 10 runs herself, including two game-winning runs and one game-tying run that led to a win. Mistretta recorded a run in all six games of the week including two in each of the Empire 8 matchups. She was hit-by-pitch once and hit a sacrifice fly ball en route to her four RBI in game one against Utica University. Defensively, as a first-time shortstop, she fielded .913 with only two errors during her 23 chances, recording 11 assists and 10 putouts and one double play against Poly where she caught a lineout and made the throw to first.  
 
Mistretta was joined in the E8 listings by Anlun Zwerver (Koog Aan De Zaan, The Netherlands/Blaise Pascal College) and Ricardo Alvarez Janik (La Orotava, Spain/Colegio Casa Azul) as the Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week and Zion Baitey (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) as the Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Both Mistretta and Alvarez Janik were named Saxons of the Week on Monday as well.
