ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's Anlun Zwerver (Koog Aan De Zaan, The Netherlands/Blaise Pascal College) and Ricardo Alvarez Janik (La Orotava, Spain/Colegio Casa Azul) were named the Empire 8 Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week.
 
This is the second time the duo has earned the accolade during the 2026 portion of their season.
 
Alvarez Janik and Zwerver were undefeated on the week from the No. 1 doubles spot, defeating the top pairs from Houghton University and St. John Fisher University. Alvarez Janik and Zwerver picked up a 6-3 win over Houghton's Rune Camps and Eben Schilke on Wednesday and then won, 6-1 over Fisher's Tyler Hernandez and Will Chubb on Saturday. Alvarez Janik was also undefeated at No. 1 singles while Zwerver went 1-1 in singles. 
 
Alvarez Janik and Zwerver were joined in the E8 listings by Bella Mistretta (Alexandria, VA/Hayfield Secondary) as the Softball Player of the Week and Zion Baitey (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) as the Men's Field Athlete of the Week. Both Alvarez Janik and Mistretta were named Saxons of the Week on Monday as well.
