ALFRED, NY -- The Alfred University men's rugby team had seven members named as Fall 2025 scholastic athletes by the National Collegiate Rugby league and the Lake Effect Rugby Conference.
The seven Saxons named included seniors
Eddie Hart IV (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs) and
Ehab AlQtam (Malah, Yemen/Newcomb Central). Two juniors were named as scholastic athletes,
Nathan Towne (Ellenville, NY/Ellenville Jr/Sr) and
Ayomideji Israel-Akinbo (Makhanda, Eastern Cape, South Africa/St. Andrews College).
The lone sophomore on the squad was
Chevon Adriaans (Paramaribo, Suriname/SGS). Finally, first-years
Shehab AlQtam (Malah, Yemen/Qurum International Private School) and
Zachary Cuddy (Whitman, MA/South Shore Vocational Technical) wrapped up the honors for AU.
"Making the Lake Effect Scholastic list is an impressive feat that the guys should be proud of," Head Coach
Dale Russell said. "It proves they are a true student athlete succeeding in both the classroom and on the field."
To be named a scholastic athlete, students had hold at least a 3.50 GPA in the fall semester while playing in at least half of the matches.
