ALFRED, NY – Alfred University's
Kendall Steward (Kennedy, NY/Randolph) was named one of the Empire 8 Softball Co-Pitchers of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Steward went 3-0 inside of the pitcher's circle during Empire 8 competition against St. John Fisher University, Hartwick College and Russell Sage College with a 3.29 ERA including a combined no-hitter against Hartwick on the road. She totaled 19 strikeouts with a weekly-high of eight against the Gators and then seven against the Cardinals and four against the Hawks. In the combined no-hitter against Hartwick, four of the 10 batters she faced in her 3.0 innings pitched were struck out by Steward. In the batters' box, Steward hit a .500 with 10 hits, three of them being home runs, one triple and one double. She drove in nine runs and scored nine herself. Steward was 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts and fielded 1.000 with six assists and one putout.
Steward was also named a Saxon of the Week on Monday along with men's lacrosse's
Hunter Cupp (Bath, NY/Haverling).
